Who are de Wielredders and what do we do?

At de Wielredders you can buy a used bicycle and for bicycle repairs.

In fact, every year thousands of bikes are left on the streets, which after a time are picked up by city services and end up in a City of Antwerp warehouse.

When these orphaned bikes go unclaimed for months, we lovingly give these bikes a second life by completely refurbishing them and replacing parts until they are as good as new again.

Even the bikes that are too far gone to repair are still recycled to the extent possible, and the good parts are reused to restore other bikes to tip-top condition.

De Wielredders have a heart for bikes and for people.

De Wielredders is a project of Werkmmaat vzw, making us embedded in the social economy. We ensure that talented people with a distance to the labor market can find the job of a lifetime through training and guidance. Our team consists of people from diverse backgrounds, but they all have in common their eagerness to learn and their love for the job. And that leads to a very warm team with colleagues who are always happy to help each other and get the best out of each other.

We are therefore very proud of our driven team!

Together with our Wielredders team, we have therefore already given countless bikes a second life, and helped a lot of people get a first-class bike!

This way we can not only help make the mainstream economy a little more social and sustainable, but we can also offer our customers quality and affordable circular bikes with a one-year warranty.

We also strive to keep our prices as democratic as possible so that as many people as possible have access to a fine bicycle. We therefore also charge prices for our bike repairs by the quarter hour instead of by the hour. That way you can be sure of a fair rate when you bring your bike in for a repair with us.

You will find de Wielredders not only in Antwerp at Paardenmarkt 24, but also in Lier in the Stadspark at Netelaan 4.

At both of our locations, you can find a first-class used bicycle. In Antwerp you can also bring your bike in for a repair. You can't do that in Lier for now, but we do have plans for this as well....
